Position: STUDENT PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Description
CEHN seeks assistance with the following:
PROJECTS:
- Outreach and education
- Organizational development through fundraising and grant-writing
- Assistance with national childcare and preschool environmentally focused initiatives
- Policy and advocacy work, focus on chemical safe policies
- Researching and writing a document that details 1) where we are regarding children's environmental health in the U.S. and 2) the state of the nation (children's health indicators)
General Qualifications
This position is available to all undergraduate juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Additionally, experience in the following is desired:
- Strong interest in pediatric environmental health issues and knowledge of children's health and environmental health.
- Excellent communication, research, and writing skills
- General office support
- Fundraising
The position starts immediately and is expected to provide project support throughout the spring with the opportunity to continue as needs and resources permit and performance warrants. The position is unpaid, however, it is a valuable internship or special project opportunity, which can be coordinated with school requirements. Hours are flexible! GENERAL INTERNSHIP & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The Children's Environmental Health Network (CEHN) is
a national multi-disciplinary project whose mission is to
promote a healthy environment and to protect the fetus
and the child from environmental hazards. We can accept two or
three Interns and/or Volunteers each semester
and during the summer.
Responsibilities
Student projects could include: working with staff on education
and outreach to targeted communities;
working on current policy issues; fundraising research; and outlining plans
for new projects. In addition, the assistant will help
with general office work. Anyone may apply, but this
position is designed for juniors, seniors or graduate
students majoring in public health, environmental
studies, public or nonprofit administration, public
policy, communication/journalism or health sciences. Students will need to contact their school regarding receiving credits.

children's environmental health as a credible and viable
field within the research, health care, and policy

The goals of CEHN are to:
1) to promote the development of sound public health and child-focused national policy;
2) to stimulate prevention-orientation research;
3) to educate health professionals, policy makers and community members in preventive strategies; and
4) to elevate public awareness of environmental hazards to children.
