Children's Environmental Health Activities |
|
| Alternatives for Community & Environment (ACE) works with youth on environmental justice projects of their choosing and trains them to educate their peers and other adults. ACE has several projects which directly or indirectly address children's environmental health. The Roxbury Environmental Empowerment Project (REEP) was designed to provide the educational resources and organizing assistance necessary to assist residents from Boston's urban communities in their efforts to address environmental justice problems in their communities. The REEP program coordinates curriculum activities for young people in elementary, middle and high schools, as well as other youth groups. REEP has designed an environmental justice curriculum with several components, including asthma education and prevention. REEP also trains youth to serve as asthma peer educators and carries out projects to reduce the environmental causes of asthma. | |
