Mission Statement

The mission of the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) is to assure the health of all women, children and families.
  • Geographic focus: national
  • Children's Environmental Health Activities

Under a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Association runs a program to engage state maternal and child health (MCH) programs in tobacco prevention and control activities, e.g., prenatal smoking cessation and education/counseling on environmental tobacco smoke. We have published the results of a survey on state MCH activities in this area and have in the past awarded modest grants ($5,000 to $10,000) to state MCH programs to pursue work in this area. AMCHP also has a policy statement supporting a broad range of tobacco control policies.
