APHA has throughout its history been in the forefront of numerous efforts to prevent disease and promote health.
  • Geographic focus: national

APHA plays a key role in advocating for legislation that affects environmental health at the federal level. APHA supported facets of various bills which specifically addressed the needs of children and other vulnerable populations. APHA has an official policy statement specifically focused on children and the environment, and APHA has numerous policies which address children's health on topics such as lead poisoning, food safety and the community's right-to-know.
