Mission Statement

 
The Childhood Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) is organized to prevent childhood cancer by investigating the root causes of this disease and educating the public on these critical findings. CCRI specializes in epidemiological studies of radiation-related causes of cancer and promoting public participation in radiation health risk assessment and management.

    CCRI's strategies include:
    • conducting scientific and community-based research
    • initiating public health program development;
    • conducting extensive community health organizing;
       
    • developing and implementing strategies for projects in public participation, community health education, capacity building and participatory research;

    • leveraging of funding to communities through the development of partnerships for research and education;

    • sponsoring and implementing educational workshops;

    • developing educational materials and technical assistance guides;

    • producing a national newsletter; providing advocacy, technical support and testimony to federal health agencies;

    • providing interviews and documentary assistance to media sources; and

    • providing general clearinghouse activities to the public, health care professionals and the media.
