Mission Statement

 
The Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) is an organization of epidemiologists working together to establish effective relationships among state and other epidemiologists, to consult and advise with appropriate disciplines in other health agencies, and to provide technical assistance to the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.

  • Membership: 350 individuals
  • Other organizational activities (not directed specifically toward children): advocacy, community organizing, education, epidemiologic training, grantmaking, organizing, research

  • Children's Environmental Health Activities

     
    CSTE has designated staff epidemiologists who are experts in environmental health to work closely with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to:
    1. design and program a childhood lead surveillance system;
    2. assess and improve surveillance systems for childhood lead levels;
    3. address and respond to areas of environmental health concern, which may include children; and
    4. address and respond to air pollution issues, which impact children.
