Hazardous Substance Release/Health Effects Database (HAZDAT)

Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
URL: http://atsdr1.atsdr.c dc.gov: 8080/hazdat.html

This is a key resource for environmental health information, developed by the Agency For Toxic Substances And Disease Registry (ATSDR). It provides access to information on the release of hazardous substances from Superfund sites or from emergency events and on the effects of hazardous substances on the health of human populations. The information is divided into five categories: site activity, site activity map, site contaminants, toxicological profiles and public health statements. In addition to HazDat, ATSDR makes available many other useful resources for environmental health information such as:

  • ToxFAQs, data from their toxicological profiles and public health statements laid out in a question and answer format

  • Minimal risk levels for hazardous substances

  • a newsletter called Hazardous Substances & Public Health
