Mission Statement

 
The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's mission is to protect and promote health and prevent disease and injury. This is accomplished through the provision of population-based health services and core public health (assessment, assurance and policy development).

    The Office of Health Promotion works to promote policy and to educate the public and mobilize communities around the issues of clean indoor air and youth access to tobacco products. The Office of Children's Health collaborates with the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention program located in the Maryland Department of the Environment to assure lead screening and follow up.
