Mission Statement

 
The Montefiore Lead Poisoning Prevention Program addresses all aspects of childhood lead poisoning from diagnosis and treatment to education and research. Their mission is to treat lead-poisoned children and their families and to educate families at risk, other medical providers and local, state and national legislators and policy makers.

    The Montefiore Lead Poisoning Prevention Program operates clinics, runs training programs, holds an annual conference, conducts workshops, gives lectures, writes articles, testifies at hearings, sits on the CDC committee for Lead Poisoning Guidelines, conducts research, measures bone lead in infants and children by L-line x-ray fluorescence, supervises and facilitates lead cleanup in homes with leaded paint, and operates a residential and training facility where families can stay temporarily while their homes are being de-leaded.
