Mission Statement

National Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides (NCAMP) was founded in 1981 as a broad coalition of health, environmental, labor, farm, consumer and church groups and individuals who share common concerns about the potential hazards associated with pesticides. The Coalition seeks to focus public attention on the very serious problem of pesticide poisoning and to promote reduced pesticide exposure through alternative pest management strategies. The Coalition also advocates for policies that better protect the public from dangerous pesticide exposures and assists communities and individuals with information on alternative methods of pest control.

  • Geographic focus: national
  • Membership: 1,100 individuals and groups
  • Other organizational activities (not directed specifically toward children): advocacy, education, organizing

  • Children's Environmental Health Activities

NCAMP assists its members in the evaluation of pesticide problems and pest management practices as well as the adoption of alternatives in homes, schools and communities. NCAMP offers information on pesticide hazards and safe pest management solutions and represents the public interest on crucial federal and state decisions. NCAMP addresses those sub- populations most vulnerable to pesticide poisoning-children, pregnant women and agricultural workers-through its work on integrated pest management for schools, endocrine disruption and wood preservative products.
