Mission Statement

 
National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) supports and conducts basic, clinical and epidemiological research on the reproductive, neurobiological, developmental and behavioral processes that determine and maintain the health of children, adults, families and populations. The NICHD's research program is divided into five major components: Center for Research for Mothers and Children, Center for Population Research, National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research, Division of Intramural Research and Division of Epidemiology, Statistics and Prevention Research.
