Mission Statement

The mission of the Pesticide Education Center is to educate the public about the adverse health effects of exposure to pesticides in the home, community and at work.

  • Geographic focus: national, international
  • No membership
  • Other organizational activities (not directed specifically toward children): advocacy, community research, education, regulation, research, technical assistance, testimony, training

  • Children's Environmental Health Activities

The Pesticide Education Center gives testimony at the request of community groups and organizations and consults with physicians regarding the health effects of pesticides. A current project, CoSEP (Coalition to Stop Children's Exposure to Pesticides), strives to reduce home, school and urban use of pesticides in Sarasota, Florida and other US cities. The Center publishes books on home use and agricultural use of pesticides, such as Designer Poisons: How to Protect Your Health & Home from Toxic Pesticides. A model petition to reduce use of pesticides on children's playing fields and a summary of studies on cancer in children related to pesticides are available from the Center directly and from the Center's Website.
