Mission Statement

 
The Texas Department of Health (TDH) is the state government agency charged with protecting and promoting the health of the public.

    TDH has been the lead organization for a broad-based children's health and safety initiative. TDH has been involved in many programs and associated activities related to children and their environment including a paper on blood lead levels by geographic areas for children in the EPSDT program, ongoing studies of neural tube defects along the US-Mexico border, as well as outbreak investigations associated with communicable diseases affecting children.
