Mission Statement

Since 1989, the Tulane Law School, through its Environmental Law Clinic, has provided free legal assistance on a wide variety of environmental issues. In addition, the Clinic assists community groups with scientific and organizational issues.

  • Geographic focus: Louisiana
  • No membership
  • Other organizational activities (not directed specifically toward children): advocacy, community outreach, technical assistance and training

  • Children's Environmental Health Activities

The Clinic has written local ordinances on solid and hazardous waste, allowing local governments to regulate the types of facilities allowed in various parts of their jurisdiction. The Clinic works directly with citizen groups in Louisiana to make sure what's proposed fits their particular situation (legal or other). The Clinic has also written various types of proposed legislation for different groups.

In the interest of benefiting other groups and networking with those with similar problems and with the media, the Clinic's Community Outreach Program offers information on and analysis of people and issues across the state.
