Mission Statement

 
The Bureau provides leadership to both the public and private sector to build the infrastructure for the delivery of health care services to all mothers and children in the nation, especially low income and isolated populations. The Bureau also administers the $684 million Maternal and Child Health Block Grant to states as well as Ped Aids, Emergency Medical Services for Child Healthy Start.

    The Bureau funds research, community grants, etc., that have components relevant to environmental health issues (e.g., lead). The Bureau's Bright Futures Health Supervision Guidelines addresses safe environments for children.
